I think that the Internet has had a great impact on education. Students can find and utilize materials much easier and faster, teachers can ask students a larger scope of questions and expect them to be able to find the answers without spending 2 hours in a library.
Social networks have played a large role in education as well. It allows students to to reach out to thier peers and find someone who may be able to help with questions they cant seem to find the answers to. This may also hurt a bit considering how much time is spent by some teens on sites such as facebook and myspace. There are so many resources out there it is almost endless. Wikipedia can basically tell you anything you want to know without going into to much detail about anything that you want to know. Other technologies that we sometimes overlook is Microsoft office. Could you imagine using a typewriter to prepare important documents? I couldn't. I am glad that we live in an age that spell check is only a click away.
